A Warm Welcome from David Duckham

ddA very warm welcome to my Sporting Clubs website! Yes, that is me pictured above in my youth, playing rugby for England.

These days, I spend much of my time holding a microphone (see left) as host of the 40+ Sporting Dinner Events that my wife Jean and I promote each year. I am proud to say that our story has been a very successful and enjoyable one, ever since the very first Dinner – in Plymouth in 1995.

We hold regular Events in Cambridgeshire/West Suffolk (Newmarket), Devon (Plymouth and Exeter), Dorset, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Sussex and Warwickshire.

At the majority of the venues four Dinners per year take place, ie. on a quarterly basis, and companies are invited to join as Members.

Black Tie Events with a Sporting Theme

The Southern Sporting Clubs have been promoting corporate business dinners with a sporting theme very successfully since 1995 and now stage regular Events at no less than ten Club venues across the southern half of England.

Our Dinners provide a relaxed, informal arena in which to entertain clients, colleagues and friends, whilst at the same time enjoying the company of sporting heroes such as Sir Henry Cooper KSG OBE, Jack Charlton OBE, Gareth Edwards CBE, Steve Davis OBE and many more.

Who are The Southern Sporting Clubs?

The Southern Sporting Clubs (Ltd) is a commercial enterprise that was originally formed and the Inaugural Event staged in November 1995. The Directors, David and Jean Duckham, now administer from their base near Stratford-Upon-Avon in south Warwickshire a network of ten Sporting Clubs – Business Dining Clubs with sporting celebrity and professional guest speakers & entertainers – across the southern half of England.

David, a distinguished former International sportsman in his own right, is also a very accomplished after-dinner speaker and Master of Ceremonies who has worked with the best and most popular celebrities and entertainers on the circuit. Both he and his wife Jean are sales and marketing professionals with many years of experience.

What do the Clubs Offer?

The Clubs’ prime objective is to offer a regular series (normally four Events per year at each venue) of memorable social evenings at high quality venues. The Black Tie Dinners are tailored specifically, in terms of style and tone, to provide an ideal platform for local business people (and private individuals) to entertain their customers, friends and colleagues in an atmosphere of good fellowship. In addition – and very much as a secondary objective – the Clubs do recognise the needs of the local community at large by staging an unobtrusive and very low key raffle at each Event to raise funds for local worthy causes. Club Members themselves are invited to nominate a Charity of Appeal of their choice.
